Every single time I try to play Dust 514 I either get a message that says "An error has occurred while attempting to download content for Dust 514. If the problem persists, check your router configuration to ensure you can access the internet." Or "Data file updates currently unavailable. Please try again later." This has been happening nonstop, every time I try to connect, for two days now. Other games I own can connect without issue, so I know it's nothing to do with my router. Most frustrating is that it does tell me how many other players HAVE been able to connect where I failed, as it shows the number of players in the Tranquility server as yet another error message is given to me. The number of times I have deleted and reinstalled this game is in the double digits now, I'm sure. I have even given my PS3 a full reformat. I have called PlayStation Support, but of course they were no help. I CAN'T BE THE ONLY PERSON ON EARTH WHO IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM, PLEASE SOMEBODY TELL ME HOW TO FIX THIS |

They seem to be trying their best, but they haven't come up with a solution yet. Their latest suggestion for me is to open specific ports in my router, but I still have yet to figure out how to do that |

This is what they sent me. Maybe it can help others:
We have reports that there may be issues with some routers that may cause this problem. If you are connecting your PS3 via Wireless through the router, then we would ask you to connect the Playstation with LAN cable to the router. After doing so, please attempt to load into DUST 514.
If this solution does not fix your connection problem, then the issue could be that your router does not have the appropriate ports open to play DUST 514. Please also check the following topic in DUST 514 forum below to find out more about the port. Port forum : https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=27899&find=unread
You may also want to check out Sony's connection troubleshooting page found here: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/connecttest.html
Finally, if you have unnecessary game cache, please follow the instruction below to clear them. 1. From the PS XMB menu, please go to GÇ£GameGÇ¥ > GÇ£Saved Data Utility (PS3tm) 2. Then select the game and press triangle (option) and choose delete to clear the game cache.
DUST 514 server is down everyday between 11:00 and 11:30 for maintenance. Server is now accepting a connection, please try to connect to the game again. |

I have disabled my router's firewall completely, since it did not allow me to open specific ports and setting up a "DMZ" for my PS3 didn't work either.
It did the trick, and everything finally appears to be working. I just don't know if disabling my firewall is a good idea.. |
